What is the babyScoop™ and who is it for?

The babyScoop™ is your first stop to get the unvarnished truth about baby products from the best experts of all – other parents!

Why did you create this website?

We created The babyScoop™ out of our own frustration at not being able to find an up-to-date, reliable and trusted source of information about baby products — all in one place. Our hope is that the babyScoop™ will be a resource for parents to make purchasing baby products easier, more informed (fewer mistakes), and even a little inspiring.

How do I submit a review?

1. In order for us to maintain the integrity and quality of our reviews you will be asked to register with The babyScoop™ to write reviews. Registering is a fast and simple process.
2. From the top navigation bar select “write a review”.
3. Select the category of the product you want to review from the drop-down list provided.
4. Next, select the specific product from the drop-down list for that category. Note: if you do not find your product, just click on Add a new product below the product drop-down.
5. Write your review and rate the product using the “radio” click buttons.
6. Once you have finished writing your review and rating the product, you can preview your review or click Submit.
7. Now you can search the product database again, and provide your input on different products as often as you please.

How does the babyScoop™ ranking system work?

Our rating system is a unique algorithm based on the individual numeric ratings (Style factor, Rough & Ready factor, Wallet factors, Overall Scoop), as well as the quantity and recency of submitted reviews.

How do you maintain the quality of your reviews?

The quality of our reviews is solely the responsibility of the parents who write them. We do not correct or alter the reviews in any way. Any reviews containing so many errors as to be confusing, or which we judge to be inappropriate or offensive, will not be posted to the site. Please refer to our review guidelines for more information.

When can I see my review on your site?

It usually takes 12-24 hours for a review to be posted.  However, we make every effort to approve and post reviews as quickly as possible.

What if I can’t find the product I want to read or write about?

Definitely let us know! We try to keep the site up to date with the latest products. With so many new ones coming out everyday we are bound to miss a few. If you would like to write a review of a product not in our database, please go directly to the Add a Product page or you can contact us with the details.

The review I wrote is attached to the wrong product.

Please contact us and give us some information about the review you wrote: the product, title, the rating, the date and the product it is meant to be for. We’ll be more than happy to make things right.

Can I write more than one review for a single product?

We will only post one review per product per reviewer. This ensures that our rating scale is not skewed. If you would like to review a more recent version of a product –we encourage you to do so. If you change your mind about a product you have reviewed or feel that your review was inaccurate – please contact us and we can remove your product review and/or allow you to write a new one. Please remember to include as much detail about your review as possible: product, title, and date. We will contact you once it has been removed.

Do I have to become a babyScoop™ member to read reviews?

Absolutely not. Our site is available for anyone to browse through and read as many reviews as they wish. However, if you would like to write reviews you must sign up and create a profile with the babyScoop™.

Why would I want to become a member of the babyScoop™?

There are many benefits to becoming a member of the babyScoop™. Not only will you have access to unbiased reviews of over 800 baby products but you can:

Are there any reviews you won’t post?

Yes. We won’t post any reviews that are not considered relevant to parents. Reviews that appear to be fake, contain insults, profanity, inappropriate or threatening language are also unacceptable. Please see our review guidelines.

What if I disagree with someone else’s review?

That’s understandable — everyone has different experiences with a product. As long as you are friendly and not insulting, it is fine to disagree with another review by directly commenting on it. Or, even better,  we invite you to respond with a review of your own to ensure that your rating is captured in the overall feedback for a specific product.

Do people get paid to write reviews?

Definitely not. We do not accept payment in exchange for a review, opinion, recommendation or endorsement and we will not provide special treatment to companies who advertise on our site.

How do you make money?

If you click on  a link to purchase from any of our product pages, blogs, etc., and you complete a purchase through that 3rd party site, in most cases we will earn a small commission from those referrals. In addition, our advertising partnerships provide some revenue. The display ads at the top and right hand side of each page are paid for by advertisers. But we’ll do our utmost to ensure that the advertising on our site is helpful and relevant to parents and not overly-intrusive or annoying. We are committed to safeguarding the honest and unbiased nature of the reviews and opinions on our site. Our content integrity will never be compromised by any advertising.

Can I buy any of the products reviewed on the babyScoop™ website?

The babyscoop does not sell any of the products that are reviewed or written about on this site. However, throughout the website, we have provided links to 3rd party retailer websites that sell each product online.  While we do our best to maintain and update all of these links, we do apologize if one of those products has been removed or discontinued by a specific retailer.  Please feel free to contact us if you encounter a broken or incomplete link to purchase.
